LLC STROMIZMERITEL. GRANULATION OF MOLENTED GLASS - TO A NEW TECHNICAL LEVEL

Dear colleagues, we publish news about a member of the Association "StekloSouz" of Russia LLC "Stromizmeritel".

Thermal dispersion of molten glass, carried out in known designs of granulators made in the form of chain scraper conveyors immersed in a bath with cold water, is not always carried out effectively. This is due either to the increased mass of drops discharged into the granulator from the feeder channel during repair work or change of the range of manufactured products, or to the insufficient length of the granulating devices. In such cases, typical for the production of high-voltage insulators and 0.75-1.5 liter sparkling wine bottles, drops of molten glass, having a temperature of 600-700°C, often do not have time to break down into granules of the required size during their stay in a water bath. It is obvious that further transportation of such hot glass drops can lead to the burnout of rubber-fabric belts at subsequent conveyors and elevators of glass recycling lines and cause not only an emergency, but also a fire hazard.

The elimination of the noted shortcomings in the operation of scraper granulators is facilitated by a two-roll device developed and manufactured by Stromizmeritel LLC (Nizhny Novgorod), which, in order to increase the efficiency of granulating recycled glass waste, pre-flattens large drops of molten glass before feeding them into cold water. A chain scraper granulator equipped with such a mechanism with two corrugated rollers was first introduced in Russia in 2025 at the Glass Insulators Plant in Yuzhnouralsk, Chelyabinsk Region, and is planned for use at other enterprises in the industry.

The technical solution for this molten glass granulator is protected by Russian patent for invention No. 2836950. The author of the invention is Valery Efremenkov, Deputy General Director of Stromizmeritel LLC, Honored Inventor of Russia. This is already his 111th patent (and the second this year).
