The press service of the Russian Ecological Operator reported the inclusion of 115 Russian companies with a total processing capacity of more than 6 million tons per year in a special register of waste disposal companies.
Irina Tarasova, General Director of the Russian Ecological Operator, notes that the process of accepting new applications continues, and the register is regularly updated with new participants.
Legal entities that carry out waste management activities within the framework of the extended producer responsibility (EPR) system are required to be included in a special register of waste disposal companies from 2024.
Current Russian legislation obliges manufacturers and importers to conclude waste disposal contracts exclusively with companies included in this register.
"Such agreements confirm that the goods or packaging have been recycled after use, as required by law. There are currently 115 organizations and enterprises in this registry. These are enterprises engaged in the secondary processing of aluminum, paper waste, plastic, glass containers, wood, batteries, electronic devices, textile materials, car tires, combined packaging and petroleum products. The total volume of resources they process exceeds 6 million tons annually. We regularly accept new applications - the registry is constantly expanding," the press service quotes Irina Tarasova, General Director of PPK REO.
